Portrait of Olga Picasso & Son - Pablo Picasso
Different kind of lines straight and curved, thick and thin all over the painting that gave form to a woman and a baby. Using a contrast between the shadow of their faces and the color of the rest of the drawing, the author make us focus in their faces forgetting the rest of the body, which do not add something different to it. Also we can found a balance even though it is a baby and a woman, whose sizes are different, but in this case the woman is sitting holding the baby in her arms and legs, which gave the balance to the drawing. We can found the emphasis of this art piece in their faces, because as I said before that shadow in their faces make us focus right away there since we see the drawing.
This art piece brought me to my childhood and made me think in all the love that a mother has for her children, and how much she care about them. I think that's the intention of the author bring us to the picture and make us focus in their faces to put our faces there, yeah! to put my mother's face and myself. Even though he is using his family in the drawing he gave us that opportunity to be part of his creation, to be part of his artwork. For that reason I chose this drawing because since I saw it I thought in my mother, in our relationship and how close I feel to her in spite of the distant between us. I feel like that child in the drawing, in the arms and legs of my mother, who I know that love me with all her heart.
This drawing is simple but very significant at the same time for all the feelings that evoke in viewers. I think Picasso in all his paintings show us simple things that we often do not appreciate, and teach us how to look at them with different eyes, and get impress in spite of all the times that we have seen those things.

This caricature is of my favorite art works that I have in my room. I love it because since I was a child one of the things that I always wanted to do was to pain, specially this kind of things. It is so great how a painting can give life to something and more in a funny way. Caricatures bring out the child that is inside us, with so much joy and happiness. This caricature is also one of my favorite because it remind me my trip to Disneyland. I got this painting made in Orlando in the Animal kingdom. I have a lot of caricatures of myself, but definitely this is one is the best of all. It has my favorite colors and a smile that I've always try to give to everyone. In our art class I would like to study this kind of art, because as I said before this is one of favorite kind of art.

This painting catch a lot memories, Disneyland, Orlando, and all the park that brought me to my childhood. So, each time that I look at this painting all this memories come to my mind.

This piece of art was a special gift from one of my best friend in Colombia. He gave it to me when knew that i was coming here. I said that it is special because he made it. He an artist, and one of the things that he loves to do the most are this kind of thing; motorcicle, cars, helicopters, and bikes. I really like this piece of art even though in the real life I do not like to ride motorcycles. I brought this piece of art with me too and also as the others has a great value to me. I know that the idea was to go out and found art around, but I was in my house all this weekend and the only thing that I do was to look around me and found pieces of art that mean something to me or at least I like them. This motorcycle is really pretty and a lot details that make it difficult to make, but also make it look as a real motorcycle with the only different that it was made with wood. This piece of art is in my living room, and everyone at home loves it.

Saturday

Today I woke up and I went to mass in our chapel. Next to the altar are these two pieces of art that I always watched, but I never realise how important they are, until I have to do this homework. One of them is Mary and the other one is Jesus. As you can see also there are some words in Latin ECCE ANCILLA (behold the handmaid) and ECCE VENIO (behold I come). I am telling you this because these pieces of art symbolize the charisma of our congregation, the reason why we live in community and follow Jesus, the reason of our oblation. To me these pieces of art are representative because they have a special meaning and they represent the spirit of a whole community. Those pieces of art symbolize our mission in the world: Here I am Lord to do your will wherever you want to send me. That is sometime that I keep saying to myself every single day and those piece of art help with that, because I just have to see them to remind why I came to this country and what I came to do. Jesus and Mary are the best example for us as seminarians, because they said yes to the call of our Father, and they said yes, because of the love that they have for God and for all of us. these pieces of art are simple and not full of color, which made it to me perfect to symbolize all what they have to transmit to others.

Today I was cleaning and moving things in my room. One of the things that I move was this painting that I brought from Colombia. It means a lot to me, because this painting has a profound cultural meaning. This painting catch important items of my culture, but I am not talking about the whole Colombian culture, I am talking about the culture from my city. As you can see this painting has a hat, which is made by hand and the material is taken from a palm tree. Next to the hat is a drum that symbolize our autochthonous music that is Cumbia. then we found a rucksack that is also make with natural material. Inside the rucksack we can see two Gaitas (male and female) that also symbolize our native music. This painting as I said before means a lot to me because it reflect in some ways who I am and where I came from. Each time that I look at this painting all the memories that I have from my country specially my city came to my mind. Oh! I forgot to tell you that the colors in the rucksack are the colors of my flag and each color has a different meaning. Yellow means all the richness in our lands, blue means the two oceans that bathe our country, and finally red that means all the blood spilled by our liberators to gave us freedom. That's why I love this painting and I bring it with me wherever I go.
